Easter Traditions for the Family

Spring is finally here which means Easter is just around the corner. Sometimes our families have Easter traditions that we grew up with, but often, we get to create new traditions with our own family! Starting Easter Traditions with our kiddos is such a fun way to celebrate this season. Here are some great ideas we found for Easter Traditions to start with your family.

Easter Treats

Holidays are always a great time to bake fun treats with the family. Easter cookies, or cakes can be a fun and messy activity to do together. The kiddos can help with the baking and/or decorating. Here are a few recipes we found for some yummy Easter Treats

Picnic

Once you have made some yummy Easter treats why not pack up a picnic and enjoy them outside together? Pick a yummy lunch and pack it up with your favorite picnic blanket. Whether you have a picnic in your backyard or at a local park Easter is a great day to spend time outside. If it does turn out to be rainy, just have a picnic in the living room!

Easter Olympics

Does your family enjoy playing games together? How about starting the annual Easter olympics?? Compete as a family with fun events like the Egg Toss,  Egg on a Spoon Race, or even Pin the Tail on the Bunny. If you want some other silly ideas check out these Easter Egg Games

Egg Your Neighbors

No, we aren’t saying to go throw eggs at your neighbors house (even though that might be fun 😅). This idea is to put Easter Eggs in your neighbors yard to create a fun Egg Hunt for them! Not only will your kids have fun hiding eggs, but it is a great way to teach them about sharing and doing something kind for your neighbors.

Wooden Eggs

Decorating/dying eggs is always a classic Easter activity. This year how about using wooden eggs? That way your kiddos can decorate eggs that they can keep all year long. Use stickers, paint, markers, etc without worrying about the eggs cracking or starting to go bad. You can get wooden eggs at your local craft store or Amazon (bonus: these wooden eggs even open!).

Egg Hunt Mix Up

Of course we have to include an Easter egg hunt! Here are a few ways you can switch up the traditional hunt.  For the older kids you can make it a night time adventure by putting glow sticks inside the eggs. If you have some high energy littles why not fill the Easter Eggs with fun challenges such as, hop like a bunny, do a somersault, or make up a silly dance! Need some more ideas? Check these out!

Events In the Area!

Last, but not least, there are always fun Easter events going on in the area! Here are a few family friendly Easter events that we found near Fairfield, CT:

Bunnies & Paws at the Apple Barrel Farm Market in Middlefield, CT; a fun event to visit some puppies, pet a bunny, and/or participate in a sweet tooth workshop!

The Great Egg Hunt 2023 at the New Canaan Nature Center in New Canaan, CT

Easter Bonnet Parade  a little bit farther away located at the Lilymoore Alpaca and Llama Farm in Pleasant Valley, NY. Join the animals for a parade, meet and greet, and photo opportunities!

There are so many Easter events all over the East Coast; make sure to look up and find some in your area.
