Father’s Day Gift Guide

Sometimes the men in our life are hard to buy for, especially on Father’s Day. Our kids are convinced that dad wants their favorite candy bar or a new toy that’s on their wish list. So what are some actual good and simple gift ideas that can include your kiddos as well?

Check out some of our ideas below!

Homemade Gifts:

Homemade gifts are such a sweet keepsake and an opportunity for your kids to try their hand at arts and crafts. Here are some fun and different ideas we found for gifts your kids can make at home!

Scribble Mug:

Supplies Needed:

Paint Markers

Ceramic Mugs

Stickers

Instructions: Wash the mug/s and once dried let your kiddos apply the stickers they want to use to create their designs. Let your child draw as much as they want to and once they are finished peel off the stickers to reveal their design! Put the mug/s in the oven and bake at 350 for 30 mins.

Note: We suggest only hand washing this mug to keep the design intact. The colors may darken a little while baking so keep that in mind when choosing colors for the mug!

Barbecue Sauce

For the Dad’s who like to grill this is a fun homemade Barbecue sauce for your kids to make!

Ingredients Needed:

2 cups ketchup

1 cup water

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

5 tablespoons light brown sugar

5 tablespoons sugar

1/2 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper

1/2 tablespoon onion powder

1/2 tablespoon ground mustard

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Directions: In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat to simmer. Cook uncovered, stirring frequently, for 1 hour 15 minutes.

Simple Hand-Print Art

Supplies Needed:

Washable Paint

Construction Paper

Laminator (optional)

Instructions: Cover your kids’ hands with paint; make sure that there is plenty of paint on their hands to get a good handprint! Have (or help) them firmly press their painted hands onto the construction paper. Make sure the handprints are facing down to correspond with the “Hands down, you’re the best!” theme.

If you have the option you can laminate or frame the handprints to create a long-lasting keepsake.

Interviews

A little less crafty but just as fun, spend time recording interviews with your kid/s answering questions about dad, what he loves, and what they love about him! Compile these into a video and let him watch them on Father’s Day! Such a sweet way to create a memory that he can watch over and over again! Check out these ideas for questions to ask.

Experiences:

Looking for something unique to do this Father’s Day? Here are a few of our gift ideas for fun Father’s Day experiences that you can enjoy as a family!

Sports Tickets:

Maybe not for the younger kids but if you have older children at home why not enjoy a game together as a family? Whether there is a game on Father’s Day or another weekend it’s a great way for the family to spend time together and do something that dad loves!

Family Fun Day:

Plan a visit to a nearby amusement park, theme park, water park, bowling alley, mini golf course, or anything else Dad would enjoy. Making memories by having fun together as a family is the best way to celebrate Father’s Day! For an extra gift take a picture/pictures as a family to remember this day and print them out for a photo album or picture frame to give to Dad.

Weekend Getaway:

Even more than just a fun day, why not plan a fun weekend trip together as a family? Whether it is a staycation close to home, a camping trip to the lake, or a weekend getaway a few states away, what a fun way to spend time together making memories.
