Nanny Appreciation Week 2023 - Nanny Interviews

This month we want to share a few blog posts highlighting some of our incredible East Coast Nanny Agency nannies. ECNA has worked to place all of these amazing nannies with our incredible families. We took some time to sit down with a few of our nannies to ask them some questions about why they wanted to become a nanny, what it means to be a nanny, and any of their favorite parts about the job.

In today’s blog we chatted with Jessica! We were able to place her in a full-time position with an awesome family and it was such a pleasure working with her!

ECNA: What made you want to become a nanny?

Jessica: I am the oldest on both sides of the family and have been helping out as far back as I can remember. I loved taking care of my younger siblings as well as my cousins. I remember asking my mom if I could help her with feedings or diaper changes, even just holding them while she went to wash dishes or use the bathroom gave me a sense of pride and showed that I could be trusted with such precious cargo. Knowing how much I enjoyed children, I took a child development class in high school and soon decided I wanted to work with children indefinitely

ECNA: What is your favorite part of being a nanny?

Jessica: My favorite part of being a nanny would have to be the rewarding feeling you get as you experience the world through the eyes of an innocent child. Watching babies hit developmental milestones, to toddlers and older children who explore the world through day trips, art projects, cooking/baking and so much more you can't help but smile. A nanny position shows you that no two days are the same and I love it. While I do have routines unique to the family and daily responsibilities that they need to learn I enjoy the flexibility of FUN!

ECNA: From your experience.. How do you feel nannying has an impact on children and parents?

Jessica: To sum this question up, I’m shaping the future! Working together with the parent(s) or care giver(s) on traditions and values , among many other goals, gets everyone on the same page. It is so important! Knowing that one day, these kids will go into the world with all the experiences, life lessons, respect and kindness is crucial. I take pride in that responsibility.

ECNA: How did working with East Coast Nanny Agency Enhance your Career?

Jessica: East Coast Nanny Agency helped me with a sense of job security. The process was simple. I filled out an application and they got to work finding the right family for me. ECNA helped with the interviewing by sharing tips to help along the way. And, they even guided the family with insight on work conditions and benefits including W-2 employment, paid time off, paid sick days, and more. Upon hiring a contract was written up and agreed upon by both employer and employee. ECNA checked in with me about a week after I started and it made me feel comfortable knowing that they cared. They were such a great company to work with!

Stay tuned for more nanny interviews coming later this month!
